What is Solar Impulse?

The Solar Impulse Foundation was created to demonstrate that we can reconcile economy and ecology by promoting the development of clean technologies and renewable energies.

After flying around the world in a solar aeroplane, Swiss explorer Bertrand Piccard set up the Solar Impulse Foundation with the aim of promoting more than 1,000 clean technologies that protect the environment in a cost-effective way.

Solar Impulse is committed to 5 out of 17 objectives

The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint for a sustainable future for all. They are interlinked and incorporate the global challenges we face every day, such as poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace and justice. To leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve each of these goals by 2030.

Solar Impulse focuses its solutions on 5 of these 17 objectives, with which it classifies and evaluates all the solutions presented to form part of its #1000 efficient solutions.

The solar luminaire

S.I.L. Solar Intelligent Lighting

A stand-alone solar luminaire with management system, it has been attributed the "Solar Impulse Efficient Solution" Label after an evaluation by independent external experts and based on verified standards. It therefore joins the challenge # 1000solutions, an initiative of the Solar Impulse Foundation to select solutions that meet high standards in cost-effectiveness and sustainability and present them to decision-makers to accelerate their implementation.

Remote management system

Smartec

Our smart city management system has been awarded the "Solar Impulse Efficient Solution" label after an evaluation by independent external experts and based on verified standards. Thus, Smartec® joins the #beyond1000solutions challenge by receiving the Solar Impulse label which is awarded to efficient, clean and cost-effective solutions with a positive impact on the environment and quality of life.
