Saturday was the most eagerly awaited day of the KH-7 Epsilon Team's entire journey in this year's Dakar in Saudi Arabia.
It was then, during the stage, when "El camión de los sueños" was able to deliver the material they had previously made to the Fundación Privada Vallés Oriental for the Disabled Children's Association.
"It has certainly been a very exciting and emotional moment. Although logistically it has not been easy, it has been a real pleasure to be able to collaborate and fulfil our mission on board the KH7 Epsilon Team. In fact, we have signed a collaboration protocol that will allow Disabled Children's to come and see what we do in Catalonia and for us to get to know their work here in depth" explained José Luis Criado, the team's co-driver and treasurer of FOV.
Disabled Children's is considered one of the largest children's rehabilitation institutions in the Arab world, where 4,000 children annually receive different programmes free of charge.
"The work they are doing in Saudi Arabia is incredible. Both Marco Trentini and I, as representatives of Salvi Lighting's general and export management, have been able to witness how they work for intellectual disabilities and to improve the limitations of normal activities of daily life for the little ones. As a company, it is a privilege to be able to promote and sponsor teams like this that not only seek a unique experience and adventure on board a truck, but also join forces," says Javier Elizalde.
The KH7 of Criado, Juvanteny and Domènech closed their stage on Sunday in 19th place in the standings, another success for a team that has more than 60 Dakar adventures between its members and that understands that maintaining the pace, not making mistakes and taking care of the truck will be vital to successfully finish a journey that, among other things, has had more than ever an added sense of solidarity and a challenge: an unprecedented route in one of the most numerous dákars.
