Cycle lane under the train aqueduct in Girona
Last September 2016 saw the opening of part of the refurbished section under the railway viaduct in the city of Girona.
This new section has a cycle lane that aims to remove architectural barriers for pedestrians and cyclists. This new section is one kilometre long and links the existing cycle lane at Plaça Poeta Marquina (Eixample district) with the Pedret bridge (the boundary between the districts of La Dehesa and Pedret). The route forms an itinerary in the city from the northern part to the most strategic nucleus in terms of mobility, the railway and bus station.
One of the main interventions of this project was to illuminate this promenade or area, which was one of the council's main objectives and an immediate request from the neighbourhood. In addition, the project has improved the aesthetic appearance in general and especially the landscaped areas.
In this new project, 56 36 W Gota units were installed with achieved illumination levels of 18 lux and a uniformity of 70%.
